Year 3

Welcome to Year 3

In Year 3, children have the excitement of being part of Key Stage 2 for the first time.

Children build on their existing knowledge, skills and understanding in Reading, Writing and Maths. The Year 3 curriculum covers some fascinating topics such as The Stone Age, The Ancient Egyptians, Extreme Earth, Light and Forces & Magnetism.

Pupils begin to develop increasing independence through opportunities in the wider curriculum. Highlights of Year 3 include swimming lessons at the leisure centre, Forest School and trips out to places such as Science Oxford for a fun-filled day of hands-on science activities.

In the final term of Year 3, children experience a night away from home at the Year 3 Activity Day & Sleepover. This takes place in the school hall, and introduces pupils to the experience of being away from home as well as providing fun outdoor learning opportunities.
