Pupil Premium

Welcome to Pupil Premium at Robertswood

What is Pupil Premium?

The Pupil Premium grant enables all publicly-funded schools in England to receive additional funding from the Government to help them improve the attainment of their disadvantaged pupils.

Evidence suggests that children from disadvantaged backgrounds generally face extra challenges in reaching their potential at school and often do not perform as well as their peers.

The pupil premium grant is designed to allow schools to help disadvantaged pupils by providing support and improving their progress, as well as the exam results they achieve.

Use of Pupil Premium funding

It is up to school leaders to decide how to spend the pupil premium. This is because school leaders are best-placed to assess their pupils’ needs and use funding to improve attainment. However, schools are held accountable for how they have used the additional funding to support pupils from low income families. We are required to publish online information about how we have used the Premium.

Pupil Premium at Robertswood

At Robertswood School, we strive to ensure that all children, irrespective of their background and challenges receive an enriching experience. Our aim is to support all children to enable them to achieve their personal potential and to raise the aspirations and expectations of all children. We have high expectations of our children and want them all to feel a valued part of our school community. Therefore, Robertswood’s Pupil Premium Strategy aims and intends to reduce all aspects of inequality. The school’s approach is rooted in tackling the literacy gap in the classroom and other significant causes of disadvantage.
